Our Workshop
A workshop built around the watch, not the clock
Wristform has operated on Lebuh Light in George Town since opening its bench doors. The focus has stayed the same: mechanical watches given the time and care they need.

How Wristform came to be
Wristform grew from a straightforward observation: in Penang, owners of mechanical watches had few places to turn for work that was explained clearly, quoted honestly, and carried out at the bench rather than outsourced elsewhere. The workshop opened on Lebuh Light with a single intention — to change that.
The premises sit within walking distance of George Town's historic shophouses, which suits us well. This part of the island has a long relationship with craft and trade, and there's something fitting about working on mechanical objects in a neighbourhood that still values how things are made. The bench faces the street, and passers-by are welcome to look.
The work we do falls into three areas: strap sourcing and fitting, movement inspection and quoting, and full bench overhauls. Each of these calls for a different pace and a different kind of attention, but the same principles apply across all of them — take time, be thorough, communicate clearly, and leave the owner better informed than when they arrived.
We work only with mechanical movements. Quartz is not our area, and we think it's better to be clear about that than to attempt work outside our range. If a watch arrives that we're not suited for, we'll say so, and we'll try to point you somewhere useful.
Our values
What we hold to
Honesty about scope
We describe what we find, not what we think the owner wants to hear. If a movement doesn't warrant the cost of a full overhaul, we'll say so.
Written records, always
Every quote, every observation note, and every overhaul record is written and given to the owner. Verbal agreements are not how we operate.
Unhurried attention
A watch is a mechanical object with many small parts, each affecting the others. We don't rush the work to free up the bench faster.
The people
Who works at the bench
Razif Mokhtar
Lead Watchmaker
Razif has worked with mechanical movements for over fourteen years, with a particular interest in Swiss manual-wind calibres. He leads the bench overhaul programme and carries out all timing assessments.
Siti Tarmizi
Strap Specialist & Client Liaison
Siti handles all strap sourcing and fitting work, as well as initial client consultations. Her knowledge of materials and bracelet fitting keeps the fitting side of the workshop running smoothly.
Kelvin Lim
Workshop Technician
Kelvin supports the overhaul programme — handling ultrasonic cleaning, case preparation, and photography documentation. He joined Wristform after completing watchmaking studies in Kuala Lumpur.
How we work
Workshop standards
Photographic documentation
Every overhaul is photographed at each stage. Owners receive a visual record of the work alongside the written summary.
Timing machine verification
All regulated movements are tested across multiple positions before the case is closed. Timing readings are included in the final record.
Ultrasonic cleaning protocol
Movement components are cleaned ultrasonically in appropriate solutions, inspected, and dried before re-oiling and reassembly.
Written quotation before work
Nothing proceeds without a written quote that the owner has reviewed and agreed to. This applies equally to strap orders and overhaul programmes.
Secure storage in-workshop
Watches left with us are logged on arrival, stored securely on site, and never sent to third parties without the owner's knowledge and agreement.
Established parts suppliers
Replacement parts and strap materials are sourced from established, reputable suppliers. We do not use grey-market channels or unverified parts.
Workshop overview
Wristform is a mechanical watch workshop based in George Town, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia. The workshop provides three principal services: strap sourcing and fitting, movement inspection with written quotation, and full bench overhaul for mechanical watches requiring thorough attention.
The workshop occupies premises on Lebuh Light, within the UNESCO World Heritage Site buffer zone of George Town. The location is accessible from most parts of the historic town centre on foot. Parking is available on nearby streets and in the car parks off Pengkalan Weld.
Our approach to watch servicing emphasises transparency and owner involvement. Before any paid work begins, the owner receives a written observation and a clear price. For overhaul work, progress is reviewed at each stage, with the owner consulted before the work moves forward. This keeps the process open rather than opaque.
We serve watch owners across Penang and receive pieces from around Malaysia. For owners who cannot visit in person, we are happy to discuss arrangements by phone or email — contact details are on the home page.
